Ingredients

For the Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

For the Special Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp pickle juice (optional)

Other Ingredients:

  • 4 burger buns (preferably brioche)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1/2 red onion (thinly sliced)

Instructions

  1. Make the Special Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, paprika, and pickle juice.
    • Set aside.
  2. Form the Patties:

    • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal balls (about 3-4 oz each).
    • Do not press them down yet! Keep them round.
  3. Toast the Buns:

    • Spread butter on the inside of the buns.
    • Toast in a pan over medium heat until golden brown. Set aside.
